Fernando Leschiera explores celestial bodies, nebulas, and galaxies of an immense, bewildering universe pervaded with cosmic energy. Born in Turin, he stands out in the world of astronomical art (counting nearly 130 artists as members of the IAAA) for his style and original painting technique, envisaging phosphorus added to pure pigment, metal and mineral splinters.
He received different awards, including the "Portovenere-Montefinale" Award for Art and Culture (2006) and Mention of Honour at the Vth Edition of the ‘Leonardo da Vinci’ Award (2007). In 2011 he was one of the selected artists exhibiting at the ‘Venice Biennale in Turin’, Italian pavilion, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi. That same year he participated to the 169th Exhibition of Figurative Arts at the Società Promotrice di Belle Arti inTurin, where he returned in 2013. He also took part to the collective exhibition ’The Casino of Art: Kunstkammer in Progress’ curated by Rolando Bellini and Melanie Zefferino as collateral event of the IXth Florence Biennale. After the solo-exhibition ‘Cosmos’, held at Banca Sella in Turin(2007), still in his native town he showed his paintings in the solo-exhibitions set up in the Cloister of the Santissima Annunziata (2008 and 2009) and Museum of Natural History ‘Don Bosco’ (2010). Some of his works are permanently exhibited at the Astronomical Observatory of Aquaviva delle Fonti (near Bari).
